Father's Day 2013

Ellie and I had fun putting together Kyle's Father's Day gift this year.  I interviewed Ellie about Kyle (really just expecting her to be silly or say, "I don't know," etc.), but she actually did really well!  I started taping her halfway through because I knew that Kyle wouldn't believe she came up with these answers so quickly on her own.  (And he didn't until he watched the video!)

I read the sentences to Ellie and had her finish them.  Everything underlined is what she said.

We also put together a scavenger hunt.  Kyle found this basket of goodies at the end.

The first clue we handed him read:

We know you like toffee
so we got you a _____
You can find your next clue
where we hang the Christmas wreath.

There he found:

You like to play this
and have a heyday
But before you tee off
you eat a ______.

(Kyle always eats a payday on the golf course!)

In his golf bag he found this:

You may be a white boy
who's too short to dunk
But in mommy's eyes
you'll always be her _____ _____!
On the basketball goal he found:

Out in this area
we've had lots of hoppers
They ate our strawberries
so they might eat your _______!
 In the garden he found:

You're such a great daddy
A real king of kings
So we got you a few of your favorite things.

You can find them on the table
where you USED to shoot pool,
Just watch out for baby puke, pee, poop, and drool!

(Kyle's game room is officially a play room w/ a pool table in it!)

And there's where he got his basket of goodies!

After church and lunch, we went to Grandpa's house to swim.  Papa Clint came over, too!

 LOVE these next two pics!

Jackson is just kicked back enjoying life!

Ellie at 3 and Jackson at 9 months

Ellie and Jackson just had their well baby checkups.  Ellie for 3 years and Jackson for 9 months.  For them to be over 2 years apart, their stats were very close. :)

Ellie weighs 30 pounds (51st percentile) and is 36 inches tall (42nd percentile)
Jackson weighs 23 pounds (88th percentile) and is 30 inches tall (95th percentile). His head is close to 20 inches in circumference (99th percentile)

So he only weighs 7 pounds less and is 6 inches shorter than Ellie.  He's going to catch up quickly!

Here's all about my kiddos right now:

Ellie:

-Wears size 3T clothing and 6/7 shoes.
-Loves to watch Little Bear and Dora.
-Will listen to Clementine 10 times in a row in the car if I let her (and I usually do because I love to hear her sing it)
-Loves to eat Schlotzky's pizza and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
-LOVES to play outside on her swingset and bounce house
-Adores her little brother and calls him "bubba"
-Is a whiz on my i-phone
-Knows all her letters and numbers, can write several of them, can spell her name and the names of several of our family members (mom, dad, nini, nana, Jack, Lily)
-Knows rhyming words and opposites
-She likes to go on walks, go to the zoo, doing projects and crafts, throwing birthday parties for Lily, staying up late, being at home, painting her toenails, doing gymnastics, "organizing" her toys, taking pictures, and going to Ms. Katie's class at the YMCA
-You usually sleep from about 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., unless you have school and then you have to get up at 7:30.  You still take a nap on most days.  If not, you'll go to sleep earlier.
-You still aren't crazy about school.  I think you like it, but you are so shy and timid that you rarely participate in anything.  You say it's because you miss me so much.  It breaks my heart.  I want you to have fun while you're there!  You're going to the summer program, but will still have a six week break before going back in the fall.  Luckily, you have one teacher from last year and one teacher you'll have next year, so you're getting the chance to know Ms. Jenny while having the security of Ms. Jessica.  Hope it helps!!

You are such a blessing to us, Elliott Rose.  You are so smart and funny.  You amaze us everyday with your quick wit and large vocabulary.  I am so glad I get to stay home with you and never have to miss a minute of watching you grow.  I'm such a lucky momma!  I love you!!

Last day of school

Having a lemonade stand!

We planted strawberries, but about the time they get to this stage, the family of bunnies that lives under our shed will eat them.  You've decided that's okay since you're helping to feed the bunnies.

Who looks this cute while taking tornado safety precautions??  Only Ellie!

Onto Jackson . . .

-You wear size 12-18 month clothing, size 3 shoes, and size 4 diapers!
-You are EVERYWHERE!  You're crawling, pulling up, and cruising around the coffee table, couch, and bathtub.  As soon as you get the chance, you head for the dog's bowl of water or the bathroom.  All you want to do is get somewhere that you may be able to play in the water.
-You LOVE bath time and splashing around in the baby pool.  You're going to have fun swimming this summer!
-You also love to eat!  You are so over baby food, unless it's in the pouch where you can suck it out yourself.  You don't like for anyone else to feed you.  You want to hold your own bottle and pick up your own food and shove it in your mouth!  So far, there hasn't been a food you haven't liked, and this is what you've tried:

shredded cheese
mashed potatoes
macaroni and cheese
avocado
rice
black beans
crackers
chicken
cheerios
bread
pancake
peas
carrots
green beans
pears
peaches
cherries
apples
mangoes
mum-mums
arrow root cookies
yogurt melts
puffs
yogurt
and probably a few others I can't think of . . .

-You have 2 teeth on bottom and 4 on top.  Your top teeth are HUGE!
-You had your first ear infection.
-You love to wave, clap your hands, and dance to music.
-Your favorite toy right now is your ride-on alphabet train.  You don't ride on it yet, but you love to take the letter tiles and stick them in the top and make the music play.
-You are sleeping through the night now!  You usually sleep from 8 or 8:30 to 7:00 a.m.  You usually take 2 naps (one in the morning and one in the afternoon).

Feeding yourself

You are such a happy boy!

 Crawling around sister's classroom

Only got one good 9 month picture.  You were trying to dive out of the chair and then ripped your sticker off!

 "Hi, Mom!"

 Clapping your hands!

I can't believe how old Jackson looks here!  Of course, Ellie's making a face!

Playing in the bounce house with sister!
Ellie actually took this one with my nice camera.  She may be a little photographer.  She's always saying, "Mom, get your camera. You've got to get a picture of this!"

Jackson, you are growing up too fast!  It's hard to believe your first birthday is just around the corner.  You are so much fun!  You love to laugh and play with your sister.  You are such a good natured baby.  I'm also so glad to be able to stay at home with you.  It's been such a joy to witness every milestone you've reached and celebrate with you.  I look forward to everything that's yet to come. I love you, bubba!
