Christmas 2010

We had a busy Christmas this year! Last Thursday, Jaiden, Jasmine, Nini, Tammy, Jett, and my mom came over to the house to make our desserts for Christmas Day. We cooked and played all day long.

On Christmas Eve, my mom, brother Casey, and Kyle's parents came over. We had some yummy food, opened presents, and played games. Ellie got some new toys, books, and clothes!

Kyle bought Ellie this dress last Christmas when I was
pregnant with her. We'd just found out she was a girl!

On Christmas Day, we went over to Tammy and Mike's. My nini made Christmas dinner (yum!) and we opened presents. It was fun to just get together and hang out!

It took us all day on Sunday to open Ellie's toys, put them together, and figure out all the cool things they do! She is now pulling up to her toys and standing by herself! I haven't been able to catch her on camera, but Kyle got me a Flip video camera which is much more handy than my other video camera, so maybe I'll catch her soon. Here are some pics of her playing with her new toys.
Ellie's going to be a pom girl like her mom . . .
I swear she puts her hands in fists, puts her arms in a high V,
tilts her head to the side, and makes a funny face all the time.
I don't know why, and you can't see her face here, but
that is what she's doing. It's so funny!

Just pulled herself up!

Christmas with the Seviers

Last night we had our Christmas with Kyle's side of the family. His sister and her family go to Bartlesville for Christmas so we always celebrate a little early with them. We went over there yesterday morning and opened presents first thing! Ellie got some really cute clothes, pajamas, a My Pal Violet, a zebra rocking horse, a little play kitchen, some books, and some other fun toys! She also had fun in the wrapping and tissue paper, of course! Then we had dinner: turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, and rolls. YUM! (Ellie had oatmeal, carrots, and apples . . . mmmmmmm!) After that, we just sat around and talked and watched the girls play with all their new toys (and some of their old toys . . . aren't kids funny???).

This is our Christmas tree. This picture doesn't
really fit in with this post, but I didn't want to do a
whole separate post for just one picture! Ellie found something tasty in her stocking!

Elliott at 7 months

I'm so proud of my little girl! She is healthy, happy, and puts a smile on my face every single morning. She is so much fun!

At 7 months, Ellie is doing the following:

-She weighs approximately 18 pounds and is 27 inches long. She wears size 6-9 months and some 9 months clothes and size 3 diapers. We just bought our first pack of diapers! We're so thankful for that diaper shower we had!

-She pulls herself up onto her knees or one knee and one foot. She'll pull up on us, the laundry basket, her toy basket, etc. She's very close to pulling herself completely up.

-Stands by herself if we get her up to a table or something else to hold onto.

-Loves to scream, holler, babble, talk, etc.

-Will clap her hands/fists together when we sing "Clap, clap, clap your hands!"

-Dances to music and sometimes dances to no music!

-Moved on from the baby bathtub. She uses a "tub in a tub" now. She still loves bathtime.

-She's on the verge of crawling. She can move herself around, but hasn't actually crawled on her hands and knees yet.

-She still loves every type of baby food including the meats (yuck!). She's tried several new things this month, and although she didn't love all of them at first bite, she did eventually decide she likes them. She's had avacado, baked potato, sweet potato, egg yolk from a boiled egg (loved this!), yogurt melts, mum-mums, crackers, wheat bread, mashed up bananas, baby yogurt, and several other fruits in the mesh bag thingies. She also loves oatmeal and still loves her bottles. She drinks about 24 oz. a day. She gets so excited when she sees a full bottle. She grabs it and stuffs it in her mouth, and you better not try to take it away! She completely feeds herself now which is so nice!

-Ellie traveled to New Mexico for the first time.

-She moves EVERYWHERE in her bed at night. She wakes up in the funniest positions (see pics below).

-She sits in the highchair and the shopping cart now. She loves to be able to look around at all the people. She is definitely a people-watcher.

-She loves water from her sippy cups and also loves when we put water in our straws and give it to her.

-She's very close to being able to feed herself finger foods. She can pick little pieces up with her finger and thumb, but always loses them somewhere between the highchair tray and her mouth.

-Was sick for the first time. That was terrible!

Here are some of the ways I find Ellie in the morning:

We rode the carousel at the mall. We were both dizzy
by the 3rd time around!

Another silly face!

Happy 7 months, Elliott Rose!

Getting Ready for Christmas

Like most people, we have been busy getting ready for Christmas ... throwing parties, attending parties, wrapping gifts, putting up decorations, and taking care of a sick baby. Most people probably (hopefully) don't have to do that last one, but we did! Ellie was sick all last week. She had fever (getting up to 103 degrees at one point), vomiting, and a rash. We took her to the doctor twice. They thought she may have a UTI so they had to cath her to get a urine sample . . . not fun for Ellie or mom! They also swabbed her throat for strep . . . negative. They checked her ears and gums (for teething) . . . fine! Urine culture . . . great! After all that, it turned out to just be a virus. I have to admit, I probably overreacted a little to my baby's first sickness. ;)However, she is feeling much better now! Of course, we are still getting back into our routine. She hasn't been sleeping well since she was sick. Now, I shouldn't complain since she's been a wonderful sleeper since 2 months . . . but it's tough getting up in the middle of the night when you're not used to it!

We were putting cool rags on Elliott's head when she had a fever. I left her home with Kyle one night to go somewhere with my mom. Apparently, he couldn't get the towels to stay on her head so he came up with this contraption:Right after I took these pictures I realized she had a fever.

Ellie LOVES to play in my box of Christmas ribbon. I
have gotten most of my wrapping done with her right
there next to me. Of course, I spend an hour putting
it all back together, but she has so much fun!

Playing in all that ribbon wears her out!

Ellie has learned to clap her hands!
That is what she's doing in this picture.

On the move ...
She doesn't stay in one place for long these days!

With Santa!
I was nervous about taking her to get her
picture taken with Santa by myself. I figured there
would be long lines, she would cry, etc. But, it was easy!
She just sat up there like a big girl, and she even smiled!
Next year may be a different story . . .

Happy Holidays!
