Bedroom Redo

Since before I had Elliott I've been collecting things to redo our bedroom. It was brown, red, and tan (somewhat like the rest of our house) and I had so much fun decorating Elliott's room in bright colors that I decided to redecorate our bedroom. We're finally finished! I went with eggplant purple and chartreuse green. We also painted our headboard white. I'm hoping to get new bedroom furniture sometime in the future. What we have now is Kyle's college furniture! I'm still shocked that Kyle agreed to this color combination. But, he's always complaining that our house is boring so I gave him some color!

Here are the before pics (it was actually decorated a little more . . . these are from when we first moved in, but you get the idea):

And here are the after:

I love it!

2 months (plus a few weeks)

Elliott is now about 2 1/2 weeks old. She's keeping us very busy which is why I'm just now posting her 2 month update! She is getting to be more fun every day! She LOVES to laugh and smile and make little noises that sound like "ma" to me. :) She loves for me to talk and sing to her. She's also started to like her swing while she's awake. We moved it to where she can see the TV and she loves that. She watched a 25 minute Baby Einstein video all the way through two different times now which I thought was good since she doesn't usually have a very long attention span. She likes toys and has started to reach for them. We also read books together at least once a day. She listens very intently and reaches out to touch the books. She'll usually let me read 2 or 3 before she gets bored. She is also sleeping in her crib all night. She sleeps anywhere between 6 and 10 hours, but usually about 8. I lay her in the very middle each night, but by morning she has scooted herself all the way to the top. I'm not quite sure how she does it!

She had her 2 month checkup with Dr. Moore last week. She weighed 11 pounds 14 ounces and measured 22 inches long. Dr. Moore said that she is very strong and has great muscle tone and control for her age. He said she will probably be rolling over and sitting up early.

Here are some recent pics of my little angel.
Watching Regis and Kelly with mom.
She is fascinated by the TV- especially baseball
for some reason. She's a Rangers fan!

Pucker up

Elliott has started this new thing where she sticks her bottom lip out reeeallllly far and makes these sad, whimpering sounds before she starts to cry. I feel bad, but I love it when she does it! It's so cute! Not that I make her cry on purpose or anything . . .

My favorite!

And she's over it . . .

Too cute!

So, it may seem that I have too much time on my hands since I've taken over 1,000 pictures of Elliott since she's been alive (and 1,000 is probably a low estimate). But, I can't help it! She's so freakin' cute! She smiles and laughs and makes the cutest noises now. She's getting more fun everyday. She's such a big girl . . . she slept in her crib for the first time on Saturday night. We painted our bedroom and I didn't want her sleeping in there, so we thought we'd try out her crib (she's been sleeping in a bassinette in our room). My goal was to have her in her room at 3 months, but she slept 8 1/2 hours on Saturday night so we tried it again on Sunday night. She slept another 8 1/2 hours straight! So, the crib it is! I'm so glad she likes it. I also felt better because I could get in and out of bed and watch TV without feeling like I'm going to wake her. She's such an awesome baby!

Here are some pictures from random days. I just had to share them . . . I can't get enough of her!

This one is now my background . . . love it! In the hat, onesie, and tutu that Katie got her.
My friend at work got her the lacy pantyhose!

So sweet!

"Okay, Mom . . . enough is enough!"

I love how she always sleeps with her hand by
her face like this.

In Grandpa's go-cart . . . I think it'll be a while
before she can reach the wheel!

My Walkin' Partner

Much to Pistol and Wylie's dismay, I have myself a new walkin' partner. Elliott and I have been walking around the neighborhood in the mornings and sometimes in the evenings with dad and the dogs. We're getting into a good routine: her morning feeding is between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m. Then we'll head straight out for a walk where Elliott usually falls asleep before we get off our block. Then we come back and she sleeps in her seat while I shower. Then it's time for morning feeding #2! The weather has been beautiful in the morning and I'm enjoying walking with Ellie, although I feel terrible for Pistol and Wylie. They're so sad when we leave. :(

This morning, I decided Elliott needed to suit up for our walk. So, she put on her white velour jogging suit with pink onesie and matching pink running shoes. She also wore a pink sweat band to keep the sweat out of her eyes. (Okay . . . I didn't really make her wear it. It is July in Oklahoma . . . even if it is early in the morning!) But, she looked so cute! Check her out:

We've had fun listening to the birds chirping and saying hi to all the dogs we pass (whose owners obviously do not have small children at home and have the luxury of a nice walk in the morning). We also have a couple of bunnies in the empty lot two houses over from us. I went and got my super fancy lens for my camera and Elliott and I went over to take pictures of them. They were running and chasing each other all over the place. Then they would stop and groom themselves and roll around in the dirt. It was so cute!

We're having fun on our walks and of course, I'm trying to get back to my prepregnancy weight (and I called myself fat before . . . !). I can't wait till Elliott is old enough to really enjoy the walks and the birds, bunnies, and dogs. But, until then I'll just tell her all about them while she sleeps!

Elliott Update

Well, I've heard many moms say that time flies, and now I know what they mean! Elliott is already 7 weeks old! She's already looking completely different and growing everyday! We've already begun to retire some newborn size clothes (which quite honestly, I'm happy that she was able to wear them this long!).

Last weekend we went to Kyle's regional meeting for his job. It's in a different location every summer (usually out of state). Last year we went to Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri. This year it just happened to be in OKC at the Skirvin Hotel. Last year when they told us we'd be in Bricktown this year we were all disappointed. Little did we know that it would work out perfectly since we have a 6 week old baby! We took her to the dinner at Bricktown Brewery (yes . . . my baby has been to a bar . . . ) on Friday night, and my mom, Nini, Aunt Tammy, Jaiden, and Jasmine came to our hotel room Saturday night to watch her while we went to Kyle's awards dinner. (Kyle took home two awards by the way . . . I was so proud!) Elliott did awesome on her first "staycation." She slept really well and was so good the entire weekend. She's so great! In fact, she slept for 8 hours straight on Friday night and 9 hours straight last night! Kyle and I kept waking up and listening to make sure she was still breathing! Next year, the regional meeting will be at Great Wolf Lodge in Texas. Elliott will be big enough to have a lot of fun! I can't wait!

Here are just a few of the pics I've taken of her over the last few weeks:

Sucking her thumb . . . I have a few ultrasound
pictures that look just like this! At Halftime (I know, another bar!) for my Nini's
65th birthday party. (It's actually a non-smoking
bar and grill, so don't judge me!)

Elliott and Papa

These are the other two girls who had their
babies in May- the ones we had the couples shower
with. I was due before both of them, but had
Elliott after both of their babies were born.
Their girls don't even weigh yet what Elliott
weighed when she was born . . . and they're
7 and 8 weeks old!

Hangin' with Dad in the hotel room

Heading to dinner

Big smiles! Actually, Elliott practically laughs!
She loves to laugh and smile on her changing
table while she's getting her diaper changed,
right after she wakes up from a nap, and when
her daddy makes faces and sings to her!

AND when she takes a bath!
We call this her Popeye face.

Wylie loves his new baby sister! Don't worry. . .

I was supervising!
