New Addition

According to Kyle, we have a new addition to our family, and no . . . I didn't have the baby 4 months early! We got a new golf cart. It's OSU Orange with black leather seats. It also has a golf cart attachment that goes on the back, which is nice since Kyle can drive to the golf course in 4 minutes (he timed it). It has a radio with an ipod hookup, seat belts, blinkers, windshield wipers, and all kinds of bells and whistles. We'd been wanting to get one, and although I wouldn't have chosen now as the best time for it (with a baby on the way), I have to admit it's pretty cool!

Crazy Christmas of 2009

As I'm sure it was for every Oklahoma family this year, Christmas was crazy! The Christmas Eve blizzard that came through messed up everything . . . although I did wish for a white Christmas, and that's exactly what I got! We had our Sevier family Christmas on Saturday, December 19th since Des and Mike and the girls go to Bartlesville for Chirstmas.

We usually have Christmas Eve at my dad's family's, but because of the storm we canceled and had it on Sunday, the 27th. I let Kyle open a few of his Christmas presents early, so we would have some entertainment while stuck inside. We watched Four Christmases and The Hangover while we ate turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and rolls. I don't usually have the stuff on hand to whip up a Christmas dinner like that, but I was glad I did . . . we may not have eaten otherwise!

Christmas Day went as planned with my mom's side of the family. It just took us a little while longer to get there! Here are some pictures from our crazy, mixed up, white Christmas of 2009!

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice . . .

Well, it's official! We're having a little girl! We had the ultrasound yesterday and got to see all of her tiny body parts. She will do great as my daughter . . . she's already posing for pictures! Kyle and I met our moms, my Nini, Desiree, and Sadie at Mercy. We all crammed in to the tiny room to await the news! When they turned the lights off and gathered around me, Sadie seemed to get very worried about me. She kept leaning over to pat me or give me a kiss. So sweet! After finding out the good news, we all went to Kona Ranch where my cousin is the manager. It went from 4 of us going in for lunch/dinner to approximately 20 of us!! My mom, dad, grandma, uncles, aunts, cousins, and Kyle's whole family met with us to celebrate! It was a great day. To top it off Kyle and I went to Target so I could get a pink shirt to wear to school today. (That is how I let my students know I'm having a girl.) We also had to make a run by the baby department and pick up a pink onesie that reads "I love my mom and dad." So precious! Now that the wait is over to find out the gender, now starts all of the questions like, "What are we going to name her?" and "Who is she going to look like?" and lots of other questions that won't be answered until May! Can't wait! Here are the ultrasound pictures and some other pics from yesterday!

The happy parents!
This is the shirt that Des had made for me after
I told her about a comment that Kyle made to
Dr. Hager. It got rave reviews (even from Sooner fans!).

Thanksgiving 2009

Well, we've been back from Lovington, New Mexico for two days and I'm just now getting everything put away while at the same time dragging out all of my Christmas decorations. I can't ever wait to get it all out! We had a great Thanksgiving with all of Kyle's side of the family. We traveled 8 hours to Lovington on Wednesday. We got to see all of the family from Kyle's mom's side and his dad's. We don't get to see them very often, so it's always a fun time. My camera finally gave out so I didn't get many pics, but I officially know what to ask for this Christmas! After staying to watch the painfully long Bedlam game, we all traveled back on Saturday evening. Let's just say it was a long ride home (poor Pokes)!

On a serious note, I have so much to be thankful for this year. I have a wonderful, caring, supportive husband who I love very much. I'm pregnant with my first baby, and all is going well. I'm back in Oklahoma with all my family and friends. I'm happy, healthy, and loving life! I couldn't ask for anything more!

Kyle and Mike battled it out in the annual Sevier Cadillac
tournament. Kyle won in the end . . . he now gets his name
on the plaque in Granny Jean's dining room!

Spoke too soon

Well, we had our 16 week appointment yesterday which was just a check up. Although I was disappointed that we wouldn't do anything like have an ultrasound, I was excited about getting in and out quickly. Yeah, right! Dr. Hager had to go deliver a baby 5 minutes before our appointment. An hour and 15 minutes later . . . I was about to fall asleep or eat anything I could get my hands on. We did get to hear the heartbeat again which made it all worth the wait! It was loud and strong this time. We could hear it really well! Then Dr. Hager announced, "149 beats per minute. If you believe in Old Wives' Tales, it's a boy! Plus, you guys are both wearing blue . . . I think it's a sign!" So, who knows?! All I know is that we have an official date for when we get to find out for sure . . . December 15th! Just in time for Christmas. I can't wait!

All signs say GIRL!

My friend, Adie.
She is due to have her son, Connor Scott, on Dec. 29th!

Last night we had our monthly Bunco get together and a surprise baby shower for my friend Adie who is 7 months pregnant. We now have 3 pregnant Bunco girls. Haley Lafever just found out she is about 6 weeks along! With Hayley and Chelsie trying as well, it won't be long before we take over! Anyway, with 3 preggos and 4 girls who are already moms, the subject always turned to kids and babies (sorry to Sherri, Cassie, and Kristin!!). We were all talking about what I think I'm going to have, etc. and Haley showed me a new trick using my wedding ring. I'd heard of it, but never seen it done. She put my ring on a piece of yarn, had me rub it along the side of my hand, and hold the ring above my open palm. It didn't do anything for a minute, but then it slowly started moving in a circle, which means it's going to be a girl! When we did it on Adie, it swung back and forth, and since she already knows she's having a boy, we know it was right!

So, that got us started on something else I'd never heard of . . . the Chinese prediction chart. You type in your birthday and due date (or birthdate of the baby) and it predicts if you'll have a boy or a girl. To see how well it worked, we tried all of the girls who already have babies; Des (2 girls), Adie (one of each), Kelly (one girl), Katie (two boys), Haley (one boy). All 8 were right! So, when we tried it with me . . . it said girl! So, between the Chinese prediction chart, pencil test, ring test, and heart rate test, all signs point to girl!! Now watch it be a boy . . .

We have an appointment next Wednesday for a check up and we'll set the date for the ultrasound. It should be sometime before Christmas . . . and that's all I want this year!! I absolutely can't wait to find out! How do some people wait for the baby to be born?? Impossible.

Well, as I enter my second trimester (actually 15 weeks today), I still have never had morning sickness (woo hoo!). I'm still extremely tired and my belly is starting to poke out there a little. I can still wear all my clothes, I just can't button the top button of my pants! Thank goodness for those little elastic bands you can wear around the top of your pants! I bought my first maternity clothes last weekend. I did wear the jeans to work yesterday, although they are still a little big. I know it won't be long before I'll be complaining that they're too small! All in all, the pregnancy is going great! I can't wait to start feeling some movement . . . that should come soon. I also can't wait to start buying pink!!

This picture was taken on November 4th.

I'm about 14 weeks.

12 Weeks!

Well, I'm nearing the end of the first trimester. I've heard that the tiredness goes away some, and I'm looking forward to that. I calculated that I was only awake for 10 hours total last Saturday! Poor Kyle . . . I leave him up watching a lot of movies by himself these days. Although, he's been great about it! He just covers me up with a blanket and wakes me up to move from the couch to the bed when he's going to bed . . . at our usual bedtime (sometimes 3 or 4 hours after I fell asleep). :) Anyway, I can't really complain because that has been my main symptom. I've had no morning sickness and I haven't really even been nauseous at all. In fact, I was very relieved to go to the doctor last Thursday and hear the heartbeat. It blows me away that there is a heart beating in my body that doesn't belong to me! Dr. Hager said that everything looks great! The heart rate was 167 beats per minute which, if you believe in that kind of thing, means it's a girl! I haven't rushed out to buy anything pink yet, but it's kind of a fun fact anyway.

My belly's just starting to pooch out there a little bit. I had a student go home and tell his mom, "Mrs. Sevier's belly is getting bigger. She looks the same everywhere else, but her belly is starting to grow!" I'm still able to wear all of my normal clothes, but I'm thinking it won't be long before I have to do some maternity clothes shopping! I have my next appt. on November 18th and we'll schedule my 20 week appt. then. That means I should know the sex of the baby around mid-December. Can't wait! It will be a perfect Christmas present for me . . . I'll get to start shopping!

I miss my camera!

I'm officially lost. Although I don't post a whole lot of pictures on my blog, I take pictures constantly. I carry my camera and extra batteries in my purse at all times! Yesterday, I was trying to take a picture of our new futon (shown below) to show my mom, and I dropped my camera. I dropped it on the carpet so I didn't think it would do anything to my camera, but I had already pushed the button to turn it on. The lens was on its way out and just stuck there. I had 2 birthday parties last night (Sadie-1 and Jasmine-8), and I didn't get a single pic! Anyway, until I get it fixed I don't know what I'm going to do! We're heading to Stillwater today for Homecoming, and I won't get to take any pictures! Ugh! I hate electronics/technology.

Anyway, on another subject, we're working on getting everything moved out of our treadmill room (I'd call it an exercise room, but that would imply that exercise takes place in there). We're combining it with our extra bedroom. However, we don't really have that many people stay over so we got a new futon and the bed is going on craigslist. I really like it. It's pretty, but functional. It has a storge area underneath, too. There's no such thing as too much storage!

I also ordered the first piece of furniture for the baby's room! I've already chosen the furniture I want whether it's a boy or a girl, so we're going to start purchasing those items now. I got the glider/rocker and ottoman pictured below. It's exactly what I wanted and got good reviews on the website. I'm so excited! Now we just can't wait to find out if we've got a girl or boy coming . . . how do people do it??!!

One last note: OSU plays Missouri today. Go POKES!!

Victory for OSU!

This weekend we traveled to College Station, TX with our Aggie friends, Danny and Toni. Since we've known them we've made it a tradition to go to all of the OSU vs. A&M football games. We stopped in McKinney first to ride the rest of the way with them. They have a camper that we stayed in over the weekend. Besides that fact that it was super cold (down in the high 30s and 40s at night), we had a great time! Of course, OSU winning 36-31 helped out a bit!

Baby Sevier!

Well, talk about slacking . . . it's been 2 months since I've posted anything! But, I have a good excuse! I went back to work (school), which always causes me to be a little more worn out than usual. After a summer filled with no alarm clocks, I tend to walk around like a zombie for the first few weeks. However, I have been exhausted! Turns out . . . I'm pregnant! We've been trying since April/May, and it finally happened. I found out on September 2nd, and just had my first appointment on September 22nd. I had an ultrasound and even got to see the heart beat! Dr. Hager estimates that I'm about 6 weeks 5 days (as of today), but I had myself at 7 weeks 4 days. Anyhow, I'm due on May 17th, 2010! A perfect ending to the school year and beginning to the summer! I can't wait to meet him/her!

The official test! This is actually the 3rd test I took. The first two were the kind with the blue line, and while there was a blue line somewhat present on the first two, I had to buy the digital kind that clearly read "pregnant" or "not pregnant."

Showing off my good news before heading off to work!

Maybe a little much . . . but, I wanted to remember the date that I found out!

September 2, 2009

At my parent's house after we revealed the good news. My mom, dad, and nini are pumped (as are everyone else in our lives!). They were beginning to think it would never happen.

The baby's first picture. Sorry . . . I'm not very good at this blogging stuff yet. I can't figure out how to rotate the picture, but you get the idea.
